Quetarshe Studio Designs a live-in/work Loft for the Restored Eco-friendly 71 Garfield Building in Detroit!

Amazingly restored, 71 Garfield apartments and lofts in midtown Detroit has gone through a wonderful transformation – it’s has gone green. This 1920’s historic building in the Sugar Hills Historic art district is comprised of recycled, re-purposed with old and new fixtures, geothermal heating, solar power, and all the things that other buildings green with envy!

Not only has it gone green - local artist were asked to design on the first level an apartment/ loft, their own style, look and feel. Sheila Palmer's loft is exciting with colors other than green! She uses her textiles and design background to create textile graphic motifs and other fiber images that would enhance an textiles artist space.

She also designed customized shelves that would hold supplies, books, and art, a large custom designed 10’ x 6’ foot table with rolling wheels to move around for all felting, silk screening and sewing projects, plus a built in office and a separate boutique section for clients to relax while trying on one-of a kind wearable art!

Being eco friendly is not new for Quetarshe studio, it has been using organic inks, dyes textiles and fibers for more than 10 years! See the newly design Weekend bags for purchase here!
